Peavey Amp serial number link?
Engine

USA models have the serial number stamped, and the EVH signature burned in. Offshore models have a sticker for the serial number and no signature. There were a small amount of USA quilts made early, within the first four years, out of the custom shop. You probably will not see any of these on ebay, and when sold they fetch upwards of $3500. The serial number of an acoustic is located on the label inside the sound hole of the guitar. All acoustic serial numbers begin with the letter 'A' and are followed by the two digit year prefix. Peavey (Back to top of page) Serial numbers correlate to shipping dates of US models only. Find the up-to-date value of your Peavey guitar, bass, or amplifier, along with model information / variations, specs, and more. Phone Orders: 877-860-5903 7. I player Hamers normally (US hand-made w/Floyds). This is the 1st Floydless guitar I owned for over 20 years. I also had the EX (in red) w/Floyd but sold it. Peavey imports are vastly under-rated IMO (I been playing 30 years & have owned everything & this stands up to anything I ever owned). I am biased tho = I love Explorers.

I'm not great on computers, but I couldn't find a peavey page with serial number data for a Nashville 400.
I have one that is 00-05590373 MFG LOC-04
Anyone know what all that means? Year? Other info?
Thanks

I don't know of any link to serial info, but the first two digits, are the year. In this case, 2000.

The first two numbers are usually the year, but was the NV400 still in production in 2000?

A friend got one from the last production run and if I remember correctly it was before 2000.

I believe the first was 1983 (not positive). Mine is an 84. It would really surprise me if the NV400 was in production for 17 years.

There is not an accessible s/n search on our website. Actually, the Nashville 400 was in production since 1983, so apparently you own one of the early models.

I called customer service and was told it's a 1992. Thanks all.

I can help you with determining the year of manufacture if you provide the serial number of your amplifier.

By his first post, the number he posted appears to be a serial number. Mine says 4A-{8 more numbers} similar to his. I was told that the 4A meant the first quarter, or maybe they said month, of 1984. I bought it pretty early in 84, not more than 6 months after I used one in a show in Nashville in Octocer of 83, that the backline was furnished by Peavey or a dealer. The 00 at the beginning is what puzzles me.
Mike... When was the last NV400 produced? By the way, it's nice to see you active on here again.

The 4A usually indicates 1984 'amplifier'.

Hi Mike Brown,
I still have a Peavey Nashville 400 with serial number: 7A-02953949. Can I assume that this amp was built in 1987?
It's an 'Export 220-V' amp (I'm in the Netherlands) and it also has a '878' number printed behind that. I have no idea what that means.
On the bottom of the serial nr. plate there's a handwritten thing in black marker saying' DB 71375'although the second 7 could be a 1.
Lastly, from an (PDF) article you wrote for Peavey I understand that my amp has a 1501-
4 ohm version speaker. Is that correct since it doesn't have any sticker on it?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

The 1501 has a smooth cone and the 1502 has a ribbed cone.
Donny and Lane. Good points. I have always used the high gain input with every guitar I have had during the time I have owned this amp. Never noticed any distortion, and I have played in bands that are so loud, they would drown out a jet's noise. I never even thought about the lo-gain input. If I ever gat to play out again, I'll have to take it for a test drive.

I quote here one really interesting post from TDPRi forum about Peavey amps serial #, as I hava lot of love (LOL) for them. Thanks Larry.
Years ago, Roger Crimm of Peavey Customer Service posted to the Peavey forum about serial numbers that Peavey had used. In the decade of the '80s, serial numbers were made up of a 2 digit prefix and an 8 digit serial # following that. The prefix indicated the year of manufacture, followed by 8 digits in the rest of the serial number, which was the pattern.
Year
The first digit of the prefix was a number, indicating what year in the decade the piece was manufactured. That was followed by a letter, which IIRC ('If I Recall Correctly,' in case you were wondering) indicated the type of gear in question. And in the lower right hand corner there was a number and a letter corresponding to the year the prefix indicated.
So, for example, my Bandit 65's serial # is 4A-01900152, so my Bandit 65 was an amp manufactured in year 4 of the 1980s, i.e., 1984. And in the lower right hand corner of the nameplate is the designation 84C, which corresponds to the year indicated in the serial number.
IIRC, some time in the early 1990s, that serialization system changed. My Peavey Studio Pro 112 TransTube (1995 or 1996, I believe) has an 8 digit serial number without a prefix. But then again I have an old Peavey Envoy 110 teal stripe that is a 1990, and uses the serialization system of the 1980s.
The Solo Series Bandit 112 was manufactured after the Bandit 75, beginning in 1988, continuing to 1995. In my limited experience, a teal stripe such as yours would date from 1990 on. Your serial # 1A-05016114 still follows the system used throughout the 80s, and apparently into the early 90s. So that prefix indicates an amplifier manufactured in year 1 of the decade. Also, that number in the lower right hand corner, '91B,' corresponds with a 1991 date.
