The legend described in the notes resembles a popular free game called 'Ao Oni,' so they choose the game as their culture festival theme. They are able to meet with the game's creator, but shortly afterward the creator dies mysteriously. Ao Oni (青鬼, lit. 'Blue Demon') is a freeware role-playing horror video game. 2 The game features puzzle and RPG elements, and revolves around a boy named Hiroshi, who is trapped with his friends in a haunted mansion, and is stalked by a monster.

On the outskirts of town stands an abandoned house where ghosts are rumored to appear. Hiroshi and his classmates Takuro, Takeshi, and Mika pay the house a visit, only to be attacked by a bizarre.

On the outskirts of town lies a mansion.
Very recently... Rumors have started to run amok that a monster has taken residence there.

Ao Oni Version 1.1 is the first publicly available version of the popular game known as Ao Oni. You play the role of two young middle school boys named Hiroshi and Kazuya. Kazuya was bullied by a fellow classmate, Takuro, and his gang into going into a haunted mansion said to be inhabited by a monster. Upon entering, Kazuya starts chickening out and Hiroshi then volunteers to explore in Kazuya's place. The whole group eventually separates and it is up to Hiroshi to solve the mystery behind the mansion.

This game is made by noprops using RPG Maker XP and it was released around November 6th, 2008. The American fan translation group, Memories of Fear, translated this game and released it on June 15th, 2013.
